Colleen Costello
Assistant Girls Coach
Colleen joined the staff in March of 2015, becoming the Coxswain Coach. In the years since she has moved into an assistant position with the girls team. Prior to beginning with the coxswains, she coached two summers of Learn to Row sessions, as well as coxing and coaching the Master Women’s program. In addition to her assistant coaching duties with the girls team, Colleen continues to spend time developing the coxswains.
Colleen started her rowing career with the Milwaukee Rowing Club in the fall of her freshman year. She was a member of the first group of Milwaukee Rowing Club Juniors to race in the Head of the Charles. After graduating from high school in 2010, she continued her rowing career at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. She earned a spot in the 1V8 during the fall of her freshman year and retained her spot through the following seasons. After graduating in May of 2014 she decided to move back to Milwaukee.
Colleen has a solid background of rowing experience. In addition to sharing her knowledge with the rowers, she is excited to share her love of the sport and past experiences to make the MRC’s coxswains as competitive and knowledgeable as possible.
Caleb Vredenbregt
Novice Boys Coach
In the fall of 2016, Caleb began coaching at a Milwaukee Rowing Club. Caleb enjoys working with the Boys Novice team.
He started his rowing career as a walk on at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). In his first year, he competed in the top novice boat at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia. During his second year in the MSOE program he competed in the Men's lightweight four at IRA's finishing second in the petite final. After his sophomore year he rowed with USRowing Men's Development Camp in Madison during the summer of 2014, competing at club nationals and Canadian Henley as a lightweight. During his junior and senior year he served as team captain, leading the team to a championship at the Milwaukee River Challenge in the men's 8. He was named team MVP in both his junior and senior year. After the winter of 2014, Caleb competed as a heavyweight in stroke seat of the men's varsity four at IRA's in 2015. He was also stroke seat at the Head of the Charles in the collegiate fours finishing 8th overall. He finished his college career in the varsity four at IRA's in 2016 finishing one second behind Yale and 2 seconds ahead of Drexel. Since college, Caleb has continued his passion in sculling boats. He competed in the Championship Doubles event at the Head of the Charles in 2016.
Caleb looks forward to continuing to share his passion and knowledge with the new MRC rowers.
