Assistant Girl's Coach; Middle School Coach

Katy is the Assistant Girls team coach and a middle school coach. She became the Assistant Girl's Coach in September 2013, overseeing the development of the novice rowers. During her time with the program she has worked closely with the Novice Girl's to develop a passion for racing and competition to continue strengthening the depth within the team. In the Fall of 2014, the Novice 8+, under Katy's guidance placed in the top two places in every race.
Katy is also involved with coaching the Middle School program, working with the athletes since the formation of the middle school program in 2013. She works to educate them about the sport and prepare the athletes for the next step of joining the high school team.
In addition to her regular coaching duties, Katy established and manages the club's social media presence.
Prior to coaching full time for the program, Katy spent her summers home from college coaching Learn to Row and novices. In her many years instructing Learn to Row, she has had an integral role in the continual stream of quality athletes the program has seen.
Katy began her rowing career at The Milwaukee Rowing Club in the winter of her Junior year (2007). After graduating from High School in 2009, she continued her rowing career as a recruit at the University of Iowa. She was able to compete in Novice races her first fall as well as race in the 1V8. She continued to earn her spot in the 1V8 all four years and was a four time letter winner. During the summers, she was invited to camps for the selection for the US Junior National team as well as U23 National team as well as attending other training locations. Katy received awards for First & Second Team All-Big Ten, First & Second Team All- Region and Second Team All- American throughout her college career. She is looking forward to sharing her dedication, strong work ethic and passion for rowing with everyone wanting to excel.
Maggie Stroebel
Assistant Coach
Maggie re-joined the Milwaukee Rowing Club staff in August of 2016 as an Assistant Girls Coach. In the summer of 2010 – 2012, she served as a Learn to Row coach, in addition to helping with the juniors program. Maggie is very knowledgeable and is an asset to both the girls and boys team at MRC.
Maggie began her rowing career with the Milwaukee Rowing Club in the summer before her senior year of high school. She quickly immersed herself in the sport, stroking the 1V8 through the fall and spring seasons. Maggie continued onto Princeton University as a recruit to the Varsity Lightweight Women’s Team, where she rowed on the 1V8 throughout her 4 years. Highlights of her rowing career at Princeton include various medals at Head of the Charles, Eastern Sprints and IRAs, as well as competing at the Henley Royal Regatta in the summer of 2011. Maggie served as captain of Princeton’s team her senior year.
Upon graduating from Princeton in June of 2014, Maggie lived in New York City until moving back to Milwaukee in the spring of 2016. She is excited to be back with Milwaukee Rowing Club and share her experience, knowledge, and love of the sport with the team.
